Okay, maybe “The Brewery Babies” doesn’t sound quite right, but “The Brewery Beagles” didn’t quite have the same ring to it.
As you might know, here at The Beagle Babies, our love for our canine companions Watson and Linda is rivaled only by our passion for a well-crafted brew. That may be a little dramatic, but we really do enjoy the uniqueness you find at brewpubs. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of visiting numerous breweries across the country, often with our faithful four-legged friends by our sides.
So far, Watson and Linda have been to all of these dog-friendly breweries:
- Wicked Warren – Warren, PA
- Bent Run – Warren, PA
- Southern Tier – Lakewood, NY
- Mudhook – York, PA
- Collusion Tapworks – York, PA
- New Belgium – Asheville, NC
- Wicked Weed – Asheville, NC
- Triple Crossing – Fulton, VA
- Strangeways – Richmond, VA
- Columbia Kettleworks – Columbia, PA
- Appalachian Brewing- Gettysburg, PA

A delightful trend we’ve noticed lately is the growing accommodation for dog owners at many breweries and restaurants. This trend has been a game-changer for pet parents like us who love enjoying a pint of IPA or a smooth stout without leaving our beloved pets at home. Whether it’s creating dog-friendly outdoor seating areas, offering water bowls, or even serving dog-friendly treats, these establishments are making it easier for us to share our adventures with our dogs.
But how do you find these dog-accommodating places? One of our favorite resources is the website ‘Bring Fido.’ This fantastic site offers a directory of pet-friendly restaurants, breweries, hotels, parks, and more, making it easier for you to plan an outing with your furry friend. You can always call or try messaging places like restaurants on facebook before showing up to confirm whether or not dogs are welcome in case you are unsure.
While it’s exciting to bring your dog along to a brewery, there are some things to consider. Here are a few tips for ensuring a fun and hassle-free experience for all involved:
- Know Your Dog’s Temperament: Before taking your dog to a public place, consider how they behave around strangers and other dogs. Ensure they’re comfortable in new environments and can remain calm among crowds.
- Leash and ID Tags: Even if your pup listens well and is generally calm, we recommend always to keep your dog on a leash and make sure they’re wearing their ID tags. This ensures their safety and the comfort of other patrons. Having the Rabbies Vaccine tag is always a good idea as well.
- Mind the Weather: If the brewery offers outdoor seating, keep in mind the weather conditions. During hot summer days, make sure there’s enough shade and water for your dog. In our experience, some restraurants and brewpubs will even offer to bring water out for your dogs!
- Pack Essentials: Don’t forget to bring doggy bags for clean-up and some toys to keep your dog entertained.
- Respect Others: Remember, not everyone is a dog lover. Always respect the space of others and ensure your dog is well-behaved.
Taking your dog to a brewery can be a wonderful shared experience, and it’s encouraging to see more establishments embracing our furry friends. So why not plan a day out with your dog? Explore new breweries, try some great craft beers, and make memories with your best friend.
Remember, always drink responsibly and ensure the safety and comfort of your dog. Here’s to fantastic brews, wagging tails, and the joy of shared experiences!
Cheers,
The Beagle Babies
